Coaching for the LCS Model

Your coach will work with you to design the best possible approaches to moving teachers forward in their efforts to become more effective teachers. While classroom observation and feedback on a one-on-one basis remain at the heart of coaching, there are other partnership activities to support teachers.

The menu includes:

  • Visits to other classrooms to see different ways to implement elements of the LCS Model
  • Mini sessions to review elements of the LCS model with, for example, a grade level team or teams or other small group
  • Demonstration lesson (after first coaching visit and a school walk-through)
  • Grade level or team planning focused on:

    *  Team collaboration

    *  Curriculum development

    *  Integrating content and skills through being there location studies

    *  Working with state standards and benchmarks

  • Classroom Set-up Day before school starts to plan and create an enriched classroom environment together, one-on-one or grade level teams
  • Working with parents and school communities, including a presentation to parents (usually an evening session in lieu of time during the day)
  • Consultation with principals or other leadership staff regarding implementing the LCS Model schoolwide, including topics
    such as:

    *  The change process and team building

    *  Funding options

    *  Conducting a climate assessment

  • *  Building a climate of support
