LCS Curriculum Academy — Making Curriculum Fit the Four Phases of Learning

The LCS Curriculum Academy is an intense and engaging workshop that guides participants through the process of making curriculum conceptual, integrated based in being there experiences, and written to provide “food for thought” in an action-based approach to learning.

The goal is to move students through the four phases of learning to reach long-term memory as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Participants will:

  • Identify, prioritize, and “clump” State Standards and basic skills into a conceptually integrated chunk of curriculum
  • Work in grade level teams to create integrated content
  • Write key points and develop inquiries for each of the four phases of learning that purposefully use the multiple intelligences best suited to the phase of learning and student strengths
  • Experience the impact of conceptual curriculum based on a being there site
  • Observe the planning and creation of an enriched environment representing the concepts/skills of the curriculum chunk
  • Create curriculum designed to foster the development of responsible citizens
  • Analyze samples of conceptually integrated curriculum

Teachers will leave with at least one curriculum chunk ready to implement in their classroom and a template for creating bodybrain-compatible curriculum in the future.
